Merrimack
Public Library,
Merrimack, New Hampshire hosts Fermata Arts Exhibition from the
Republic of Georgia “Art Design of Georgian Forms” for the month
of December 2014 and January, 2015
from
e-mail to Fermata Arts Foundation dated January 7, 2015:
Thank you so much for including the Merrimack Public Library in a library tour of this beautiful artwork from the Republic of Georgia. Quite honestly, the abundance of offerings in the suitcase were far too many for our library to accommodate, but I have included a few pictures of the display in the lower hallway.
I received many comments praising the work, and the consistent theme that ran through these comments were remarking about how different the art was from things that we see in our culture. Inevitably, our patrons and staff were surprised by the political themes and moved by the similarities depicted in pictures of families. We were delighted with the bold use of color and unusual materials. We were thoroughly impressed that these works were completed by children. It was a great honor to be able to display these treasures and we look forward to similar opportunities in the future.
Thank you all at Fermata for the very important efforts that you perform so that we can participate in this cultural sharing.
All Best,
Yvette

“I wish to thank you for this opportunity to display children’s art from Republic of Georgia. We had many comments and compliments from our patrons. We are a small library so the art work offered a colorfulatmosphere.A library trustee created a “art challenge” with list of pieces of art to match with a clue – this resulted in patrons looking more closely at the artwork and taking more time . We had art event on April 9th and had about 20 adults – a patron made khachapuri (a cheese bread recipe she found on the internet – it was delicious!). An art teacher for our local grade school arranged a school field trip of 30 children to come to the library to see the art. Many children were impressed with the ages of the artists.”Christy MenardLibrary DirectorConant Public LibraryWinchester, NHhttp://www.conantlibrary.org
